Introducing The Beyond Type - the unstoppable, resilient, inspiring community thriving with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). My understanding of Type 1 diabetes began with my husband @nickjonas . Twenty years since his diagnosis, he stands as proof of what resilience looks like and every day, he shows us what it means to live beyond limitation. He co-founded @beyondtype1 to ensure anyone living with diabetes has the knowledge, support, and dignity they deserve. India has the second highest number of people living with diabetes in the world and more youth live with type 1 diabetes than anywhere else - many diagnosed too late and battling stigma alone. Beyond Type 1’s work here aims to change that… by empowering families, amplifying stories, and shifting what the world believes is possible. This campaign is just the beginning. Back home for a quick minute. Sometimes I catch myself being in complete awe of the beauty, wonder and love all around me. This thanksgiving I’m so grateful for health, joy, togetherness and the simple pleasures of life that we tend to take for granted sometimes. Im so grateful for my family, friends, team and everyone that makes this crazy ride feel easier.After spending so long away from home, filming Varanaasi, I’m just reminding myself one of the best things in life is being able to be surrounded by your loved ones. In the year 2001, my first signing amount in the movies came from Vijayta Films.One of the first Hindi movies I ever shot was under his banner, with his eldest son.Him and his family, made me feel welcome in the industry, at a time when no one knew me.Very few people are capable of that kind of warmth and grace, towards a complete newcomer, from Bareilly, who didn’t know anyone in Mumbai.I have known the Deol family since the beginning of my career. I’ve worked in multiple movies with Sunny and Bobby. This feels personal, and I know I share that feeling with many others in the world.Some people leave behind films, some leave behind feelings. He has left us with both.His presence was magnetic.He filled up a frame with his smile and charisma like only he could.This is a big loss for cinema, but his legacy is permanent.As I type this note on a film set, in between shots, I think about how so many of us will always be inspired by him. Hailing from a small town with no Godfather and big dreams.. he made a permanent mark in a tough industry.. and he carried his family along. A true blue Hindi film Hero. Rest in paradise, Dharamji.My condolences to the entire Deol family.Om Shanti.
