I devoured Paul Myers’ fantastic new book, John Candy: A Life In Comedy. I’ve spent a lot of years pondering the greatness and essential humanity of John Candy. In this definitive book, Paul truly captured the essence of the John Candy we all know and we all love, but after a whole documentary and spending time with so many who knew him, I was shocked by how much I learned… There was so much I didn’t know, which, of it’s even possible, made me love John even more. Paul has one of the most natural gifts for storytelling in any medium. And it was no surprise to learn he’s also a songwriter; his empathy for creative artists, musical ear for language, and attention to detail, make this book a joy to read. And agreeing to lend her voice to the John Candy: I Like Me soundtrack is no small thing. It unlocked made the movie whole in a way none of were expecting. Cynthia has written so many gorgeous songs — and knew exactly what to do with this classic. I can’t imagine a day without this version of the song in the world. @williamfwells dedication, grit and world class production, echoed the joy, longing and love so many have for John Candy. And of course, none of this is possible without @realdarylhall lyrics. Thank you Cynthia for using your gift to celebrate John Candy. Toronto, you beautiful city. 🇨🇦❤️@chriscandy4ever and I had the honor (and danger) of sharing the stage with national treasure Eugene Levy — who somehow manages to be both the funniest and classiest person in any room. The incomparable @kevinmccarthytv kept us on track… mostly.Chris Candy spoke of his dad in a way that was so beautiful, elegant and emotional. It turned everyone’s face into an actual monsoon. It was laughter, nostalgia, and just enough chaos to make John proud. Thank you, Toronto 🇨🇦

Last night was one for the books, New Brunswick! Laughter, tears, (allegedly) another spit take… @chriscandy4ever , @danpasternack and I welcomed comedy legend, human dopamine delivery system and 32 year SNL veteran, Steve Higgins. Steve lives in the same sphere of kindness John Candy inhabited. He’s given me some of the best advice over the years. Huge thanks to @statetheatrenj and New Jersey… thank you from the heart of our bottoms.

Chris Candy and I had the great pleasure of welcoming to the stage, Philadelphia’s 5th favourite son — and my brother from another mother(s), Mr. @robmac We spoke of our shared love for John Candy, Rob’s powerful and unwavering love for the great city of Philadelphia and has anyone ever looked up the sound an eagle actually makes?
